Swords
The suit of Swords: 14 cards of the element of air. Meaning of every card upright and reversed, keywords and symbolism.
Swords are the suit of air: of thought, speech, discernment and conflict. It is the hardest suit in the deck because it speaks of how a person thinks — and an imprecise thought wounds more reliably than circumstance does.
The numbered cards travel from the clarity of the Ace through deadlock, grief, isolation and dread to an ending where the weight is finally set down. Many cards in this suit describe not an event but the state of mind around an event. The court cards are different ways of wielding words, from the sharpness of the Page to the cold precision of the King.
