The Major Arcana are twenty-two cards that run through the deck as a single line: from the Fool, who has not yet taken the first step, to the World, where the circle closes. They are not a set of situations but a set of states that anyone who is moving at all passes through.

When a reading is crowded with Major Arcana, it usually concerns not an everyday episode but a turn that redefines the rest — a change of frame rather than a decision inside the frame. These cards rarely say what to do; they show the scale of what is happening.
